When Six Flags unsuccesfully expanded into the European market in the early 2000s, the event came to Six Flags Belgium as Halloween Horror Fest. Fright Fest is even hosted at parks that are considered "spin-off" parks, like La Ronde and Frontier City. With Six Flags Theme Parks' acquisition by Premier Parks in 1998, Fright Fest was introduced at all of Premier's properties that were rebranded as Six Flags parks in 19, including but not limited to Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom, Six Flags America, and Six Flags New England. The name change from Fright Nights to Fright Fest came in 1992, as then-Six Flags parent company Time Warner wanted a unified brand for all of the parks' Halloween events. It was a huge success in Houston and because of this the event was slowly but surely expanded to all other Six Flags Theme Parks throughout the late 1980s to early 1990s. ![]() The event typically features various haunted attractions and scare zones, as well as Halloween-themed live entertainment.įright Fest originated in 1986 at Six Flags AstroWorld in Houston, Texas, when the event was known as Fright Nights.
